Originally begun by the YMCA in 1983, Safe Place is sponsored locally by Diogenes.  Safe Place encourages teens not to run away and gives them a way to get off the streets.  Fire stations, Domino's Pizza stores and other locations in the area display the SAFE PLACE logo.  When a child comes to a SAFE PLACE location, the employee there calls Diogenes to dispatch a staff member or volunteer to the site to provide assistance.  Parents are notified as soon as possible.
